to the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary in
Kailua Kona, Hawaii
We are the civilian, volunteer component of the
United States Coast Guard Department of Homeland Security. We are
dedicated to teach the general public about boating safety through
boating classes, free safety checks, marine dealer visits and water
patrol operations.
The
flotilla meeting takes place at 0900 hrs (9:00 am) at Honokohau Harbor,
DLNR conference room every second Saturday of the month.If
you are interested in boating or PWC classes, joining the auxiliary or
new to the Big Island boating community please feel free to contact us

Hawai`i Viewing Guidelines:
Keep a safe distance -
Please do not chase, closely approach, surround, swim with, or attempt
to touch marine wildlife.For humpback
whales in
Hawai‘i, Federal regulations prohibit approaching closer than 100 yards
(90m; length of a football field ) when on the water 1,000 feet (300m)
when operating an aircraft
For Hawaiian monk seals and other species of whales and dolphins
the recommended
distance for observation is:50
yards (45m) when on the beaches or on the water 1,000 feet (300m) when
operating
an aircraft
